Runner, HYROX racer, business owner. Author of Protect My WP.
I'm Stu. I live in the UK with my wife and our fox red Labrador, Darcey. She's five, and she loves being outside so I definitely get my steps in.
What I'm most passionate about is health and fitness. My current focus is HYROX and running, with strength training to support both. I love HYROX because it's challenging and competitive, which keeps me motivated. To be good at HYROX you need a good base of endurance as well as relative strength for the demands of the race. The events are great too. They're usually playing Dubstep and Drum & Bass at full blast while you're trying to remember how many laps you've done or what station is next. I love it. I share what I'm doing as hybridfitnessguy on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
My day job is Serenity Digital, which I co-founded in 2012. We're a marketing consultancy, doing creative, technical and growth work. My background is web development and sysadmin. I've been writing PHP since the early 2000s, so I'm at home in an IDE and terminal, and I've put that to work on a side project too: Protect My WP, a practical handbook for keeping a WordPress site safe, fast and up to date. More recently I've spent a lot of time learning and using AI. I use it day to day, build with it, and lean on it for data analysis. It's the most interesting thing happening in tech in several years and I'm excited to see where it goes.

A couple of long reviews from a while back. Still useful, still my honest take.
